The richly illustrated book covers the last decade of the artist’s work and is published by the Dutch Art Book specialists, 99 Publishers in both English and German and is written by the German Authors Dr Reinhard Spieler and Jan Peter Kern.
About the artist: Jan Maarten Voskuil (Arnhem 1964) makes well crafted and inventive spatial paintings which at first glimpse seem to be rooted in the Minimalism of the seventies. Based on simple geomet- rics of the square and the circle, the woks result in an extensive exercise of turning the flat painting sur- face into three dimensions by stretching the canvas over spatially constructed wooden frames. The work touches upon territories such as Installation Art, Sculpture and Architecture. The merely symmetrical and modular principles in his work recently moved into an outspokenly asymmetrical direction, suggesting an endless area of “free form.” Leading towards an even more elaborate oeuvre.
