Chasing The Golden Duck, 2012.
Nowadays the pursuit of our dreams seems much more like a wild goose chase than a possible reality. Having that in mind and as well as references like La Fontaine's fable The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, and greedy Uncle Scrooge (from the very American Disney cartoon Donald Duck), I have been photographing this ongoing series called Chasing the Golden Duck.
My obsessive chase of a gold-painted child's inflatable duck offers a transformational metaphor that, in its playfulness and simplicity, provides an alternative ideal.
The series is a mix of digital images and medium format photographs that are showed in an installation that increases as the duck has different adventures. The last installation consists in 700 plus images in sizes 4x6, 4x4, 5x7 and 5x5 inches. So far the duck has been in more than 7 locations among them: Pinhal Beach, Guaiba River, Ipiranga Canal all in Brazil. East River, Delaware river, in NY. Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia.
